Themselves. To get any information on world events in the United States you have to watch BBC America. The local news has nothing and the big networks and CNN have very little as well. It's not any better in Canada. If it does not affect Americans directly they don't care.

People don't stop to think that things that happen statewide, nationally or worldwide really do affect everyone on some level.

Many people that are comfortable with their lives and are financially secure don't care what goes on in their own city let alone the world. They don't even care who gets elected president just so it doesn't affect their lives. I'm willing to bet that if these people had a catastrophe in their lives they would be looking for help!

The rest of the world knows that America cares only for itself...Big talk about world issues, but never becoming involved in anything that isn't good press, except for war. This is such a typical inflammatory question, obviously from a non-American. If Americans didn't care about world events, then Indonesia would still be a mound of mud and bodies, Iraqis would still have a leader who gets off testing gas weapons on his own people, British, French, and Russian people along with most of Europe would all be speaking German today, and roughly a third of Africans would be dead of disease & starvation that aren't currently.

Tell you what...if you dislike America and Americans so much, tell your particular country's leader or leaders to STOP ACCCEPTING OUR MONETARY AID, HUMANITARIAN AID, AND MILITARY AID. And pass that along to your Bono-worshiping **** friends that want so desperately to be relevant and validated they'll even stoop to trying to incite kids on Yahoo answers.

Both! American people are very compassionate and caring about people here and abroad. American organizations and people are usually the biggest contributors and donors to the world disaster relief efforts and help agencies. America rarely receives any help from other countries when disasters strike here because the American people have big hearts and give alot.
