Airlines recommend a three hour check in for long haul flights, but arrive 2 hours before and you will be fine.

The cut off is 45 minutes before boarding

I always used to go super early, that way you get the seat of your choice, very important on long haul I think. Once you have your pass you can wander around have a meal and shop, the time will soon pass.
You can lose time but never make it. Have a great time in the Philippines.

Three hours. Get there early to avoid the queues, then hang around in a bar or something.
You can get a train right into manchester airport.
