It's a lot simpler than either party would admit. Full public funding of elections. No lobbying, no "soft-money" canpaign contributions, no PAC-attacks. All candidates get a set amount of money to spend. Levels the playing field and keeps corporate and special interest influence out of the political arena.

Limit the amount a candidate can raise to $100,000. Abolish lobbying altogether. It will never happen but it would make a huge difference in our government.

Abolish all political parties. The lobbyists would have to do so much homework on each candidate, that it would become impractical financially to lobby as successfully as they are now.
All these lobbyists have to do now is figure out if there's an "R" or a "D" after one's name.

We could start an alternative lifestyle that doesn't depend on any big money industry, doesn't feed any big machines, doesn't use any non renewable resource, and by and large runs parallel and stronger to the system we now have in place.

Get rid of crooked politicians. If the government forced checks and balances like it is supposed to, honest businessmen would force out the corrupt ones.
We have a large group of like-minded people who are preparing to reform the political landscape of our nation. See for yourself at http://www.freecapitalist.com
