Why not share ringtones between your friends, that would save money provided they all had blue tooth and wanted the same ringtones! Alternatively, why not invent your own - do you have a ringtone creator on your phone!? Can be fun!! Some phones also come with software so you can also use your pc to convert MP3 files into ringtones though obviously you have to legally download the MP3s to begin with!

I do that for mp3 ringtones!
Install a proxy (squid rulz), configure your browser to use it, "preview" the ringtones you want, check the proxy server's log and find out the name of the file, then download it (copy and paste the name in the browser, then save the file). Then you must transfer it from the computer to the phone ... I do that by putting then on my web server and downloading them in the phone (3G is usefull), but you can use a cable, wifi, bluetooth, etc.

you can get a program called xingtones. For $19.99 you can make your own ringtones with mp3, midi, wav files and so on. Once you buy the program you can make and send as many ringtones to your phone as you want.
