Yes it definitely exists, and we have done it. In fact, it's a thriving sub-culture. "Wife-swapping" is actually an antiquated term, though, and is a bit derogatory. It implies that chauvanistic men trade their wives around like pieces of meat, or like they're trading baseball cards or something. Nothing could be further from the truth. It's actually a very pro-woman lifestyle, in that most of the decision-making and veto power are given to the woman. Couples agree to allow one another to have sex with other partners. Most couples prefer 'same room' sex, which ranges from having sex with your own partner in the same room as another couple who are doing the same, to some interaction between the couples, to actual full contact with each other's partners including intercourse. It is not a "last resort" for troubled marriages, nor is it for anyone who has an unhealthy obsession with sex. In fact, you can probably take just about every bad thing you've ever heard about the lifestyle (the preferred name for it, or 'swinging'), keep about 5% of it, and turn the rest of it 180 degrees the other way. That's the reality. It really isn't the horrible thing people make it out to be.

I'd provide more detail, but I'm not sure how old you are. I'll assume you are old enough to ask about sex, and I've just responded in the same way I'd explain it to my own kids. I hope this has been helpful.
