I think of one of my favourite movies, Muriel's Wedding. Plus, the outback, kangaroos, koala bears, Crocodile Dundee, the coral reef and tree frogs in toilets. (My friend lived and worked there for a year and brought back pics of these bright green tree frogs clogging the toilets in the camps!)
I am Canadian, so I can relate to tourist stereotypes. Ours our polar bears, year round skiing, igloos, eskimos, hockey, "eh" and Tim Hortons coffee!
I've never personally seen a polar bear, I hate skiing and it is a winter sport only (we DO have an amazing spring/summer/autumn season from April to November), never seen an igloo or an eskimo (atleast not in traditional attire). I do like to watch hockey, but many of my friends do not, I do say "eh" quite a bit, but do not drink coffee of any kind.
I live in southwestern Ontario, which is further south than many places of the most northern parts of the US.

I get the image of blonde tan men in Khaki shorts and shirts with crazy eyes screaming about the crocodiles as some snake bites him on the face.
Just Kidding.
The Sydney harbour comes to mind.
My dad went to Australia and the pictures were amazing. He did bring me back a stuffed kangaroo and a stuffed koala bear. I'm in my 30's so I wasn't thrilled. Oh, he brought me a didgeridoo as well. I can't play it. So other than a boomerang, I got all the stereotypical Australian souvenirs.

No, no, not Skippy!
I think of Aboriginals, Desert, big and exciting Cities
Adventure and unique wild life. But especially the Aboriginals.
Their way of life and history is fascinating.
I would love to visit your country and stay a while.
Not lo long - because it gets to hot over there.
I like winter - lots of snow!
Canada is my home.
I am not related to LindaLou!

I'm really sorry to say this, but of the Australians I've met, I've only liked a handful (i.e. one family). The others, I found to be argumentative and quick to anger. I hope, I really hope that it's just the ones I've met and that it's not representative of the population. But the country...probably really unique and different from anywhere else and unique even amongst themselves...from NSW to WA. I'd like to go to Tasmania someday...heard that it's pretty lush and beautiful.

I think of The Man from Snowy River. I don't know why... I also get the image of the outback and wild Brumbies. Aborigines also come to mind.

Honestly: Syndey Opera House and thriving cities, as well as lots of desert with Marsupoula and big rock dome.

Yea, that's pretty much how I picture it. Hot and dry. Dusty. Lots of kangaroos and crocs and not being able to go anywhere without hearing "G'Day"
