Well at first my initial answer was yes, because I would have the ability to turn into a bat. With todays soaring gas prices I was thinking off all the money I could save. However, then I realized that bats have terrible day vision and vampires can't go out during the day. After that I began thinking of all the other disadvantages that come with being a vampire such as.

1) Vampires are unable to digest food which means I could no
longer enjoy my favorite foods such as pizza, ribs, crab legs etc.

2) In today's society vampires would be at a very high risk for contracting AIDS. Although vampires are immortal, who would want to live an eternity with HIV/AIDS symptoms?

3) I would outlive my family, friends and social security. Since I am not wealthy like Count Dracula, after my social security ran out I would have to go back to work. That would suck!!!

4) Vampires don't have dental benefits. Not only would I have to pay outrageous dental fees, I would also have to explain my fangs to my dentist, after which I would have to kill him/her to prevent exposure. Hmmm..... A vampire must go through a lot of dentists.

5) The last reason I wouldn't want to be a vampire is I hate sleeping in coffins. They are so uncomfortable. Have you ever slept in a coffin? Probably not. Take it from me. It is no walk in the park. If I were a vampire I would have to insist on sleeping in my kingsize bed and since sleeping in beds violates section 66.6 set forth by the United Brotherhood of Vampires Union, which states "All vampires must sleep in coffins. Any vampires found sleeping in traditional bedding will be reprimended to the fullest extent of the law as established by the vampire nation." Which basically means a wooden stake through the heart or a severe sun tanning session.

Taking all this into account, I think I will pass on being a vampire.

No, I would not.

There are many blood born diseases. Quite a few of them are serious, and can be fatal. Among these, this list includes:

AIDS/HIV
Hepititus B
Hepititus C
Malaria
West Nile Virus

Also, ingesting innimical proteins such as prions is another risk.

In addition to the possibility of already being dead, which presents serious complications - vampires could contract quite serious conditions.

And without a working immune system, the consequences could be even more serious for the undead than the living.

Chilling thought, isn't it?

Combining that with a dramatically increased risk of intensive exposure to a greatly increased number of pathogens, not to mention a much greater frequency of reexposure to them - vampires would get illin' pretty often compared to average folk.

No,Becouse I personally do not want to be a walking corpse. I would perfer not to exist on the blood and life energy of my family and community with fleeting moments of clarity where I realize that I am a abomination.I don't want to spend eternity reeking of the grave and rotten blood. Nether do I wish to exist only as a non corpereal predatory entity. These are what Vampires are folks. They are not pretty, much less cool. If you READ Dracula he is hideous and ratlike. He is no Gary Oldman or even Bela Lugosi. He's an Animated Corpse! Put down Lestat and do some research.

Assuming it was possible I would think that since you can live forever you would be immune to any dieseases being that your are technically dead already. Vampires don't get sick. They cant catch AIDS or HIV or whatever. I would def be a vampire I would love to live forever, and there are enough dirtbags in the world to food everyday comfortably. As for the whole not being in the sun that would be the only thing missed. Everything else would be amazing, assuming it was possible.

The romanticized vampire is intriguing, to say the least, but I don't think I could handle watching my friends and family die away while I live on. True, I could turn them, but what if they hate it, like Louis (from the Vampire Chronicles... for those who read the books)?
For the person who mentioned HIV/AIDS, as much as it made me laugh, I doubt thats possible if a vampire is already dead.... (but then again if vampires aren't real, what does it matter)

Yes. Normally I'd rather be an immortal in one form or another, and if being a vampire would be the only way, then yes, I would. I would like to be able to live on thru the ages and have no fear of death, and be able to do all kinds of cool stuff!

No. Vampires have been romanticized in the more "modern" literature.( 1700s-present) The original vampire is truly a walking corpse, more like how you would envision a rotting zombie.Foul smelling + more. Yuck.

Yes, not for the bloodsucking as they show to be a vampire.
For immortality, no more aging, being able to sleep during the day, getting to a place quickly instead of having to wait for a taxi or bus or by car. Being able to change into something different then yourself.
