you have to make sure to get a phone that is to be used in europe. they can be rented, so you don't have to go to the expense of buying one for short term use. do a quick search of international cell phones and you will get a lot of sites to choose from.

They use a different frequency system in Europe so don't buy a phone till you get there, any phone you get in the states won't work for europe, at least that was the case a few years ago. Talk to a few wireless providers about this and see what they say. You may be able to get a special phone from one of them just for Europe.

You have to but a certain band phone if you buy a quad-ban phone it will work and a tri-ban phone will work but not a dual-ban when you go into the cell place ask for a quad ban phone they are the best! If they offer it get a Motorola V557 that what I have and it works in alot of other countries.
