C. WAIT... it's not likely that he's a slow learner. Toddlers do not say much for a while (it's pretty much gibberish) and all of a sudden you are the only one that can understand his/her funny sentences!

You should also take into account your child's developmental age. Whether or not s/he was born premature or late.

If he doesn't say between 5 and 10 words by his 18 months check-up, your doctor may suggest speech therapy.

C.

Babies progress at their own rate. You didn't say he speaks NO words, just rarely speaks. If he is communicating nonverbally and getting what he wants, why bother talking?

My brother rarely said anything other than 'no' until he was four and then spoke complex sentences. Up until then he really didn't have much to say, once he did, he spoke.

Babies do what they want to when they want to, don't get uptight about the progress charts you see. Just love them, enjoy them.

some babies rarely talk maybe he just doesn't se it fit to force himself into talking......... give him some more time some babies talk less when they aren't around other chilodren, if you have a relative that has talking children i suggest that you allow him to spend more time with em........maybe he has down's syndrone that a illness many babies are born with due to various reasons this can be checked for by a doctor or you may see some of the symtoms like him always opening hi smouth or he has wide cut eyes...don't be sad tho your child is still a blessing maybe in disguise
