Well, that is a question I have asked myself, the mother of an 11 year old. I think when she turns 13 I will skillfully instruct her in the application of A LITTLE make-up. I plan to teach her that the art is about applying it to boost your looks, not kill them. Good question!

well, it wouldn't hurt to let her wear some lip gloss or the colored kind. but you should wait till she is 13 years old and maybe at that age she can wear a little bit of eyeshadow. I'm 13 too, and i put on some makeup once and guys way older then me though i was 15 or 16 years old! wearing makeup at a young age get more attention from the opposite sex.

I have decided to do this in moderation beginning at 10 with lip gloss. Then each couple of years move it up a bit. I see 14 and 15 girls wearing make up that look like tramps and I don't want my girls having this image. My advice? Start small and add a little every couple of birthdays. This way they don't turn into "clowns" over night.

well, it depends. is she like, BEGGING 4 it now? i think that when she turns 10, u should provide it as an optional thing. however, remind her of the cons of make-up, too. like, persay, u DON'T put on make-up 1 day. everybody will think u look like a FrEaK! also, remind her that she's beautiful WITHOUT all that make-up, and she is who she is, she can't change that. but still, let her make the choice if she wants 2 wear it all the time, just some blush and lip gloss, the whole set, only on sundays, whatever. hope that helps! good luck!

I wasn't allowed to wear make-up until high school and I will have the same rule for my daughter. Also, I couldn't get my ears pierced until I was 12. My parents felt at that age I was old enough to take care of them properly.

I have a daughter and she is 12. She wears lip gloss and that's about it, she already looks older than she is with just lip gloss. And that freaks me out! I did'nt start wearing make-up until I was 16 and in High School.

16. There is no reason for a 10 year old child to wear makeup. Maybe give her chapstick or a pale colored gloss, but otherwise she doesn't need it. I'm 26 and I still barely wear the stuff.

I don't really feel like make-up is appropriate for children---I mean you could get her some of those little kits that have nail polish and lip gloss etc, but actual makeup--yeah I don't really feel that is appropriate.....I would say not to allow her to wear any of it until she is able to actually purchase it herself with money that she has made from working---maybe 17 if even that.....Makeup ages you, so why push yourself to looking older especially when you are a child?
