I need to know the meaning of 'berendoi' in English. Its a Malay word, please help. Thanks : )

The word is correct, I have an invitation from one of the Royal families in Malaysia & the card is titled 'Majlis Berendoi'

This is a nice occassions....to welcome the new babies and introduce him/her to the community...

This is where ppl sing a few "greeting" songs called marhaban, followed by cutting a few strand of hairs.... it's a culture things...
After that...usually there will be a small feast...good food..

Wear something nice... Batik is ok....

Don't worry...go ahead and attend....you'll like it...

Never heard of it. Perhaps you got the spelling wrong, or it could be from a dialect of Malay like the kind they speak in Johor or Kedah or Penang. The prefix 'ber' usually indicates that it's a verb, or possession...like berbaju...baju is shirt, so berbaju means wearing a shirt, or bermain...main is play, and bermain, I think means 'to play'. So if I'm reading this right, you need the root word 'endoi', and I've never heard of that word, which is why I think it may be a slang term, or a word from a Malay dialect...sorry!
