In my experience its caused by low refrigerant level. Try recharging it. Cleaning the coils could help somewhat, but if its freezing solid it probably more than just dirt.. its working way too hard.

Not the proper Ventilation, make sure it has plenty room to breathe all around it.

Dirty filter or evaporator coils or low on freon.

HI,,, not enough freon in the ac will do it... .also,, clean the filter.... it will help.....
