I have heard this so often on the tv in London and was amazed...but then the standard of English has gone down radically in England and its a great pity to see whats happening to our beautiful language.

The English language is not being taught very well any more. Notice how so many people on these boards cannot spell and have poor grammar skills. They don't read and school is a big joke.

I've never heard anyone say that... do you live in Virginia by any chance? Not to down Virginians (they actually have a much higher school criteria than here in Californina), but I lived there for 3 years and heard some of the worse english on earth!

Who the heck says "I was sat" That is incredibly moronic. People are just lazy in language and anything else for that matter. With the ghetto crowd, it seems that the more imroper English that is used, the cooler you seem to be.

I have a bigger problem with the people who pronounce mischievous as miss-CHEEV-ee-ous instead of MISS-chiv-ous, and you find bad grammar varies in different regions e.g. in Fife people frequently say "I seen", I've saw", "I've no saw" and in other parts of the UK they have different but equally bad grammar. It's probably a sign that a) idiots are being allowed to multiply, b) teaching standards have dropped, c) bad grammar on TV might be an influence.

I know its disgraceful isn't it? I also hate it when people say "arks" instead of asks and if you say my leg is itchy people tell you to "itch it". Whatever happened to scratching? lol
