that people hav a tendency to say "I was sat" instead of " was sitting" . Whats happening to our lovey English language.?

sorry about the e on the have sometimes my e on the computer doesnt type, I have heard people say this on the tv so I thought it was something new they were teaching in the schools.

I know. Many people don't care for speaking, typing or writing properly anymore. The French speak French properly; the Spanish speak Spanish properly and the Chinese speak Chinese properly. Why can't the English speak English properly? Many people can't even use the apostophe correctly. How stupid are they?!

Colloquialism darling! Every language has its slang which varies over time. Its not that 'anything is happening' as such to the English language, just that there isa useage of slang language. Slang or colloquial language has always existed, even throughout history. If you look back you will find lots of sayings (some rather interesting regional ones in particular) & I think it just adds to the wealth of our English heritage!

A lot of people have got all 'chaved up' judging by the English used by many on this site! Glad to hear someone takes our language and heritage seriously

Recently a proposal to introduce new, easier phonetic spellings to proper English has been gaining ground in America fueled by Germany's Neue Rechtschreibung. For instance, WOOD would become WUD. WOUlD would become WUUD. How pathetic. Learn to spell you chumps!

I know there is often poor spelling and grammar on this site, but I think some people complain too much.

At least they don't say 'hav'

Yes, I've heard that a lot. It really annoys me. I think some people say it because they are ignorant or chav, and some people say it because they've heard so many other people say it, they think it's correct.

I haven't heard that, those people are illiterate.
