I work full time as a cocktail waitress but by the time I pay the rent, buy groceries and put gas in my car I literally have no money. I have to do laundry and I'm about to go to the laundry and beg for quarters. I just DON"T feel like it today but there's no way out!!

Unfortunately when I was in college, it was how I lived too. Our son and daughter now work as a waitress and pizza maker and every day they have to make decisions about whether to do laundry or pay rent. We had one suggestion that REALLY worked for them and me when I was in school (get a GOOD roommate). They both now have alittle spending money as well as get their bills paid. They used a roommate service to screen their roomies so it worked well. The service was free and truly screened out "bad apples".

Wishing you a good day and a great roomie!

yes. You are actually doing well if you can do those things. Some people are barely getting by doing that. That is the way the economy is today. I have just tacked on my daughters college tuition and I am forced to get a second job. Find another job that pays more or get one to supplement it. Also, if there are any men in your life, ask for help with some things like groceries and gas. I have friend that does not like the thought of me going to pump gas. He thinks the only thing a woman should do to a car is drive it.

I feel like that all the time. I'm a college student all year round and I work all year too. No time for vacations like everyone else gets to take. I got my paycheck last week and I'm left with 20 bucks to make it til Friday, which has to pay for food gas and doing laundry, which usually takes about 10 dollars or so. So yeah I definitely can relate. If all else fails hun I sometimes wash my shirts in my bathroom sink or tub with soap and hang them around my apartment to dry. Good luck!

I've never been quite that far down and out, but I certainly have run out of money and have had to ignore bills (sometimes for months at a time) when I couldn't pay them. It truly sucks! Something is really wrong with America when you got multi-millionaires spending $10,000 on a pair of panties, and others who have to beg for quarters for their laundry! Hang in there...

By the way those of you who are judging this user for begging...SHAME ON YOU! Have you walked a mile in her shoes??? Until you have had to beg to wash your clothes you have no right to put anyone down for doing so!

When I was in that situation years ago, I found jobs that lasted 2-3 days and made a couple of hundred dollars for it. Why don't you try working these part time part time jobs? Go to this link and choose your city, then go from there. It will darn sure keep you from begging quarters each month.

I know EXACTLY what you are going through! We live on a fixed income and are often down to $2.00 beofre the 3rd comes in. We go through a ton of gas going back and forth to Dr appts. Can't help that! And at $3.00 a gal no less!

I know we often have to do things we don't feel like doing. I have to go down cellar and cut a hole in the concrete. I have to go to the rental center - rent the jackhammer and do it myself becuase we have no money to pay anyone. As it is now, I still owe the plumber over $150 for a water heater that sprang a leak!

Where do you live? Is there any assistance in your area?
Write me.

Consider taking on another job, or move to an area that has a higher standard of living. It is demeaning to beg for quarters. Maybe there is a program in your area where you can apply for food assistance. You shouldn't have to live this way.

Can you take all your spare change..nickles pennies dimes.. to the coin star and trade them in for quarters?
I used to get a roll of quarters from the bank when I would deposit my paycheck. Then I would have them and not accidentally spend it all, I realize you have to pay the bills and eat, but clean clothes are right up there on the priority list.
