It's interesting isn't it.
Some names are clearly more common amongst some racial groups, and Amanda is definitely one that is commoner among white people - I would have made the same assumption. Distinctively black names are more common (a Roshanda is statistically very unlikely to be white, for example)
There's a really interesting section on this in economist Stephen D. Levitt's book 'Freakonomics'... he presents a whole series of statistics on baby-naming in the black and white communities in the US.

Because racism is still a large problem but now its getting to the point where people know they are supposed to be comfortable with it however they are not. So instead of accepting you solely for who you are, they need to find a connection with you, something that makes them think of you in the same light as themselves. So when they say your a white girl because of your name, its because they havent quite got it in their mind that it doesnt matter if your black, red, brown, tan or white, because your a human being and thats the only thing that matters.
So dont hate them, the people that call you this, but do make sure to let them know exaxctly what they are doing and how it affects you. You should never stand for someone trying to change you or make you out to be anything or anyone that you are'nt.

Because some names typically are only used within certain races. ALL the girls I"ve known named amanda were white girls.

Because the name Amanda is associated with a particular race. My godmothers name is Amanda, she is black and like 65 years old.

because there idiots. Most of the time when people tease you about your looks or your name there just jealous. Don't pay them any mind. As long as you like your name it doesn't matter what they say.
