He was great. In his entire career he never used a foul word in any of his acts.

Yes, I remember "Red Skelton". I think he had a variety show called "The Red Skelton Hour" or something like that. Good, clean comedy. I don't really remember any specific character, but it seems like he played a bum or a drunk.

Red Skelton, not Red Buttons, passed away some time ago.
My favorite skit is his Pledge of Allegience. His Characters as I remember were Clem Kadiddlehopper, Mean Widdle Kid, San Fernando Red, Freddy the Freeloader. Deadeye **** and I think that is all of them. His acts were clean and extended from his radio days. His wife, Buttercup, was dsearly loved by him, as he was by her. Anybody in Yahoo from Texas? Good...You can always tell a Texan....Not much though !

Pledge of Alligence is on my computer and I will gladly send it if you email me.

Heathcliff and Gertrude were great, but my favorite was Senator Claghorn, he managed to get some great political barbs off in an actually subtle way. Everytime I hear some bellowing or snary two-faced politico, I'm reminded of Red's senator and LMAO.

I am lucky enough to live only 25 miles away from Vincennes Indiana, which is where he grew up and lived. They have a new memorial hall dedicated to him at Vincennes University that has a-lot of memoriable of all his life.He was a hometown hero that even got a bridge named after him. On us50 that goes from Illinois to Indiana right to Vincennes. His christmas special was one of the classics I remember best .

Yes, he was a "Hoot" and I have some DVDs of him. I always liked "Freddie the Freeloader" not sure it spelled correct. Some of his Adult Oriented work was great also, he was able to make fun and still have a degree of cleanness.

my husband and I came across one of his dvds in the movie bin at Walmart last year and got it for his dad. It made him so happy to see it again. It reminded me of the Bowrie Boys that he likes so much. Good clean humor that is not around anymore.
