I'd like to know how the sun moves across the sky in latitudes where it stays above the horizon for 24 hours during summer. If it stays above the horizon that means it doesn't rise in the East and set in the West. How exactly does it move through the sky? Where in the sky is the sun at solar "midnight" in these locations?

Having lived in such a place, this is an easy question. During the short time when the sun does not set, it just goes around in a circular motion, never getting very much higher than just above the horizon. As for what direction you can find the sun at "midnight", I'll leave that as an exercise. Just use a globe, pick a spot above the arctic circle and position the sun on the other side of the globe from the spot you picked ... keep in mind that at the top(bottom) of the world, north,south, etc. aren't always well defined ...

Midnight would thus be defined as when the sun is lowest in the sky. It will peak at noon as usual in the southern sky (Arctic) or northern sky (Antarctic). In the A.M., the sun is in the east, and in the P.M., the sun is in the west.
