I don't why not. It is much like picking your nose, most people do it, but it is not polite to do it in public, so only do it in the privacy of your own home.
Expect to be looked at strangely or even ridiculed if you do it in public.

Well, I guess if you enjoy the aroma of whatever you are scratching. But please, do it in the privacy of your own home and if you must do it in public, go to the bathroom first.
