If you are going to see them in the hospital, I would take something SMALL.
When I had my babies, people were so kind and generous, they brought all sorts of gifts, and baloons, and flowers.
But honestly, when it was time to take the baby home....it was quite a burden to get all that into the car with us, try not to let the flowers get crushed or tip over, not let the baloons fly away, etc.
They had to call a hospital volunteer to come with a cart on wheels to take all the gifts out to the car with us. It was just a major HASSLE.
I suggest a very small teddy bear and a gift card. If you want to take anything more like toys, clothes, nursery accessories.....bring the presents, and let Mommy open it, then kindly tell her that you will take it to the house for her, so she doesn't have to worry about getting it home.
That is just my advice.

Clothes are always best. I would suggest one of those infant gowns. You can buy some that come in a layette set too. No matter how many clothes a mother thinks she has - once that baby's born, what they have is never enough.
I wouldn't bring flowers, she'd be obliged to take them with her home, but they're really bulky and difficult for the car ride. And, she'd rather save room in the vehicle for the baby! Same thing for a balloon and a card - for that amount of money, you can just buy her something that'll go farther like a pack of receiving blankets (at Kmart, only $6.99)
I never was a fan of gift certificates. I only send them to family members who live out of the area. To me, it says "I didn't think of you enough to buy you a present, so here's what I think I should spend on you." Putting a dollar amount on a gift is not really giving a gift from the heart.
Diapers/formula are always needed, but you might not have the brand right, or she might change her mind in the hospital, so it would be extra work for her to exchange them.
A baby gown and a pack of receiving blankets are what she needs the most right now. Getting one pack of each, from Kmart/Walmart/Target etc - will cost you around $12. I wasn't sure of your price range, so if you want to spend more, then add some tshirts, socks, or more to it.

Take her some lotion for her (could be baby lotion for both), seeing as how the little one is going to be the focus of attention its good to let her know that she's in your thoughts too. The best gift I got when I was in the hospital after I had my son was just that people came to see me. I didn't really care if they had a gift or not... I am pretty sure that she is just going to be glad to see you. On a side note, getting clothes for the little one is great, but i'd suggest if you were going to buy more than one, get some 3/6 mo's and even a 6/9 mo's one to go along with it... he's gonna grow and she's gonna remember down the road that you kept that in mind. - at least i do and i appreciate it.

I just had my baby in April and received so many gifts. The best by far were giftcards. They were such a lifesaver once it was time to start buying diapers and formula. Some people think that giftcards are the easy way out, but when you have a baby there is always something you NEED to buy.

Sometimes people have baby registries and that way you could find something they really want. Otherwise, it's a nice idea to buy toys or clothes for when the baby is a little bigger (think months down the road). So many people buy new born appropriate gifts and babies grow so quickly, you can't use it after two months.

I had a baby this past November and I really appreciated the gifts of clothing that were a size or more bigger. I had quite a bit for "newborn" but not much for later on. Also a small gift for the new mom such as a small tube of body lotion or pretty flowers are just the nicest touch!

Well you can always buy her a card or a balloon that say its a boy those are so cute to me and for the baby you can buy the baby some newborn clothes or a baby bottle or something like that she will definitely appreciate that because babies will always need baby clothes and bottles and stuff like that especially newborns

Bring her a pedicure kit! It's the first time she's seen her feet in a while! Avoid at all costs flowers (a pain to bring home) or stuffed toys (baby will get FAR too many of those)! I was also happy to get some food smuggled into the hospital - their food was awful!

Take your Aunt some flowers and chocolate, and take the baby an outfit to be brought home in.
