Nikola Tesla invented AC!
Yes, Nikola Tesla discovered a way that energy could be free to everyone on the planet, using the natural atmospheric hemispheres in the sky. It is an idea for FREE energy, the energy does not have to be created, it's already there. There might be costs involved in the technology of harnessing the energy or capturing the energy. These costs would be included in what we pay for things that are electrical because it would affect the way they work. The energy would also be wireless which would eliminate unsightly wires and dangerous downed power lines, and power outages. I do not know how or even if electrical storms would affect this free wireless energy.
With respect to Edison and Westinghouse, they were very highly intellegent, with many inventions and patents of their own. Edison and Westinghouse were superior marketers and businessmen. Nikola Tesla was not interested in marketing or business. His only interest in these areas was to make enough money to further finance his ideas. In fact, he was screwed financially several times and died ultimately penniless, while others became very wealthy using his ideas and patents.
It is a documented fact that Edison was very jealous of Tesla. Their relationship was strained to say the least. Edison spent an awful lot of time trying to discredit and eliminate knowledge of who Nikola Tesla was, and for a long time he succeded. Nikola Tesla was a genius who had a tendency to be eccentric. Tesla had some far out ideas particularly in his later years, although some of those ideas don't seem so far out today and the public as well as our government is actually using them to the benefit of our society.
I suggest you do a google video search on Nikola Tesla, it's really interesting! I wish more schools would teach about him and his life. Here's a link that you might like to look at:

AC was known well before Tesla, but he was a main proponent of using AC as the means of distributing electic power. The main advantage of AC over DC is that its voltage is efficiently transformed to different levels. This way high voltage can be used for long distance transmission, then reduced to lower levels for use with electrical equipment. For the same power, high voltage uses less current, and it is the current that is the main cause of power loss and voltage drop due to resistance in the transmission wires. AC suffers from loss due to radiation from the power lines, and for that reason there is a trend to use high-voltage DC transmission for very long distance. This is now feasible because efficient AC-DC and DC-AC converters are possible.

Nikola Tesla invented AC power and sold the rights to produce AC equipment it to George Westinghouse. The patent agreement stipulated that Westinghouse would pay Tesla $2.50 for every horsepower-worth of AC electrical equipment that Westinghouse sold. When Westinghouse got into financial trouble, Tesla voluntary dissolved the royalty contract and made AC electricity part of the public domain.

Tesla did not invent AC, but he was one of the most important figures in it's development. But there is nothing about it that would make it free. Tesla did envision transmitting it without wires, like radio waves, but the generation of it would still have cost money, just like it does now.

Tesla was the man! Tesla's theories and inventions are still developed today...like the military's weapons that can create earthquakes...Tesla almost brought down his research building using this type of device and he claimed he could split the entire earth in half. Also, the government has high-energy arrays that can blast out the ionosphere away from earth which can create huge lightening storms, deflect missles, etc. all thanks to Tesla. I recommend watching the biography of Tesla on NetFlix.

We attribute AC power to Whestinghouse. Edison was in favor of DC at the time.
As far as free, nuclear energy promised us cheap electricity, and it never happened. Hydro and Solar are renewable sources of energy, but the cost of collecting, regenerating to electrical energy and distribution still makes the cost stay up.

Tesla.
Edison try to popularize DC, but he lost in the "war".
Free energy supply? There is no free lunch in this world. Although there are free email accounts, free web host, free web log, free search engine,.... but it is not really "free", someone have to pay it indirectly, always. And of course, it is always from the consumers.
