I truly, really hope not. I wish someday we'd all see how intrisically good we all are and that we can all work together to make this world a better place for all of us.

1. Doomed means condemned. Usually, we say doomed TO something or other, like doomed to extinction, doomed to poverty. So I need something more.
2. The dinosaurs were hateful, violent, and more often than not perhaps stupid, and they endured for millions of years.
3. In 1899, Lord Balfour declared that there was nothing more to be learned, so no further scientific research was necessary. Since then we have increased our knowledge thousands of times over. Life is unpredictable. We can't say for certain until it happens whether or not we can evolve and change our ways.
4. I almost totally agree with your characterization of our species, but remember that religious zealotry is something that only about half of the human species is involved in. There are societies and cultures who don't give a rat's you-know-what (because I can't use the word here) about religion. Perhaps we should just let the religious freaks destroy each other and leave the rest of us in peace.
5. Is there any future for us? Well, who knows? If you give in to depression and despondency, then no. But if you keep thinking and doing what little you can, maybe change will come. If suddenly next week the whole earth except for the tropical regions began to freeze up and build up ice masses, we'd all forget our differences and join together to find solutions (I think; either that or total anarchy). Similarly, if it suddenly went to 140 degrees all over the US, everyone would be invading Canada and the Northwest territories, and people in migration don't care what your religion is.

Well, it looks pretty bad, but if everyone felt that it was hopeless it would certainly come to pass. Having said that, you can only do so much by trying to be optimistic. And doing your best in your own small world will make things slightly better overall (these things spread!) You can't control other peoples behaviour though, and there seem to be quite a lot of very disturbed people who are so full of rage that they want to kill us all. The end product of very bad child-rearing practices (and conditioning in other ways) If schools set up some sort of system for young people to work through their rage. I know it would take skilled teachers to start with but the skills could then be passed on to the students to continue working with each other I think there could be massive changes around the world, because people would not need THINGS to fill up the void in their personality and would have community with others and real caring relationships to satisfy them. I have had some of this in my lifetime and I see how it is squeezed out of people by monetary considerations. When you look at American culture, you are left with the impression that Americans don't like each other very much. Of course there must be some who do, but there is a lot of cheating about money and trying to put the other person in a bad light and emotional blackmail. They seem to be taught that other peoples are not as important as Americans (and they very often don't know the simplest things about the rest of the world, even though they actually consume most of what the world produces!) This isn't to say that Americans are innately bad, but they have been brainwashed in this way Fortunately there are a few questioning voices coming from the US (and elsewhere of course) Like Michael Moore and others. I hope they will make a difference, and encourage us all to do our bit. We can help by being sceptical of the advertisers trying to sell us their products and by giving away things to other people that we really don't need any more (See freecycle.com)

The economy is maxed out. The last thing that was holding it to-gether was housing. Everything was run on debt that is now in the abstract numbers, and unpayable. The U.S., which used to support most of the world economy is drying up, and that's going to mean even more wars, and with the radiation poisoning, among other things, a lot of people are going to die, the survivors will probably build a temporary bunch of Utopias, and it will degenerate again after people outbreed their resources, and the cycle continues. Isn't that how it's always been?
The human race never learns. How long have we been here, and we're still as messed up as ever.

You say "WE'RE hateful, violent" I'll have you know, this "WE" is none of the above, nor amd I stupid, and I'm just one line old lady living in the USA. The majority of people are not hateful, violent or stupid, its just those few you hear about on the news. Its like hearing about a dog that is vicious and kills a kid, you don't hear about all the other good dogs out there. Give us a chance, good wins out over evil all the time. If we haven't destroyed ourselves yet, its not going to happen. Humans are resiliant. Don't worry, just enjoy your life.

I would be very suprised if we evolved beyond this point. Human nature seems to be interweaved with distructive traits. I think for the earth to recover from our destructive ways the disease refered to as the human race may need to be eradicated. Maybe there will be change worthy of redemption, but It will need a greater person than I to see it.

Consider this: kill all but one percent of humans, and you are still left with a tremendous number. Plus, people have been predicting the end of days since the Black Plague. I thought, years ago, that we would all wind up nuked into glass. But notice that since WWII, no one has used nukes in war. I think even the boys on top realize that it would take very few nukes to irraditate the whole planet. We'll survive as a race, but as individuals, who knows?

Yes it is. We are doomed to a point of no return. And I blame Hollywood for this.
They are selling this rancid idea that glamour and wealth are the hallmarks of success instead of kindness and sustainability.
Now they got the over 1 billion Chinese from China to buy into this idea. When China goes capitalist then the planet is as good as a used up whor with little to look forward to.

The human race sure does seem to be worse than in previous years. No one knows how long we have left; if there is any future for us, or how we can evolve into better people.

I agree with Big Foot...We are so toast. Nature always cleans itself up after we screw with it you know? I think it is only a matter of time before mother nature just gets pissed and says screw it. She's pretty mad right now I think....The only way we can evolve is by becoming smarter really...But the stupid population is growin...ever noticed. All the smart ones are slacking off in the baby makin department...we are so toast....just a matter of time.
