When my TV dies, and it’s not too much more than standard definition, I’ll replace it with HD.

I do. But unfortunately the cable companies aren't up to speed with the new technology.
There are only a few HDTV channels.

I think I'm the only person in America that pulls in the free digital broadcasts through the roof antenna. I bought the tuner from Mal-Wart on closeout for 120 bucks. I send the picture to my plain-old 32" TV and send the audio through the home theater. I get about 25 stations. The picture is about perfect and so is the digital audio. Most prime-time shows are broadcast in 5.1 surround.

i do not have an HDTV. I reckon i will get one when the TV we have dies and there is nothing else to buy. But the one we have works just fine, yes, the ONE we have, we have but one TV. And we survive. Not a problem.LOL

I have one that is "HDTV ready" but I'm too broke to buy the receiver or whatever it's called.

When I can afford it - ditto on the cable services not all being up to it - no sense in buying a new tv until my old one dies because they are just going to get cheaper and cheaper so I might as well wait...

Yes, and it's awesome. You will need to get HD service from either a satellite or cable provider. But the results are worth it. (shop carefully)

no. When they pry my DVD burner from my dead cold hands. I use a HDTV card on my pc.
