I think a main reason is that people are afraid of gaining the knowledge of another's perspective. Many people act as if they are too busy with seemingly trivial things to even bother with looking at another's point of view. Some people are afraid that their own perspective may be disproved if they find out someone else's is better or more constructive. The funny thing is that a person might be able to solve his/her own problems more easily by looking at someone else's perspective instead of ignoring them.

Most people my dear are really closed minded, so it is good thing you try not to be. People grow up believing what their parents say, priests say, teachers etc. Now, if we believed everything anyone said without question and without doing our own research...we would be pretty close minded too. Plus, if you just believe what has been drilled into your head since you were little it is easy to get comfortable with those answers. Some people just don't care about others....hey the world ain't perfect...on earth there is no time when we will all attempt a clear open mind.

I don't have a problem understanding other peoples perspectives at all, I just don't agree with them all the time, but you are right, it would solve a lot of problems

I have noticed that too. I feel that I attempt to take others perspectives into consideration, yet the same doesn't seem to be reciprocated. I would assume it is human nature to get what they want with out regard to feelings. I don;t know that a difinative answer will be found, just speculations.

Basically, our past shapes our future. Who we were in yesteryear will determine who we will become tomorrow. Because we have a different background story to tell, we will all live a different tomorrow. Another thing to note is that all we personally know is the things we have learned and experienced. Because of these factors, we each see things in their own light... I see things my way, you see things your way. Both of us could be right in our choices and beliefs, while both of us could be wrong. We live in one big world, that is divided up into billions of small worlds... until some force makes us all have some collective thought process... we will always divide before we will unite. This, is the human way of doing things sadly.

Not everyone is the same in their thinking, for example, Psychologists have a learned way of thinking, and it is not always the right way of thinking, yet because they have been educated to think that way they are supposedly right. This is wrong. Just as doctors have a learned way of treating patients, they don't know anyother way as there are alternatives. There are alot of stupid narrow minded people in this world. Amen.

i think it's like einstein's theory of relativity... it's relative to where you are, and in this is where you are coming from. it could be cultural, or that you're standing in your shoes, and no one else is, therefore can't relate.if no one has experienced your particular problem, how can they understand it? it's not that they're cold, or unsympathetic, just clueless. as an example, my Mother had arthritus. while i cared about her pain, i had no real idea how it hurt her, untill i experienced it too. she was gone before i came down with it. i could have related more, feeling the same pain. i hope i've helped you.

I agree. So many people in this world think their way is the only way to think. We should take everyones perspective into consideration.

It is not.
And it will not.
It is not hard to see but understanding others does not mean I like them any better.
fi: I understand how Nazi Germany came into being, I understand how they got into killing over 15 million people. Does that help? Do I like them (historically speaking) more because I do? Hell no.

i understand anothers perspective...but most of the time they're to whacky to understand mine...so it creates a division and all of a sudden you have no interest in their perspective any more
