What is the bigger threat in your eyes to our society? A female president or more war?

*IF* Bush could serve a 3rd term (which he cannot). And *IF* the election was between Hillary Clinton and George Bush. With Bush's approval rating so low, and America split between having a female president or not. Would you vote for Clinton or Bush?

I would of course vote for Hillary. However, I think Hillary has come to represent more than just "a female president". While I'm sure that there are many people who still firmly believe that a woman could not be an effective President, I bet you'd find that many of the people who would never vote for Hillary would eagerly vote for Condoleeza Rice (for example) instead of a male Democratic nominee.

I have serious misgivings about Hillary (though I can't imagine that the Republicans will nominate anyone qualified or patriotic enough for my vote, so she'd have it), but they have nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that she's female.

That being said, I felt largely the same way about her husband during the early primary season in 1992, but by the time my own state voted, he had changed my mind. I believe that once Hillary has the opportunity to speak for herself in a primary campaign she very well may change my mind and many others.

Re. your subquestion - of COURSE more war is a bigger threat than a female president. I'm not entirely sure that will be our choice, though. We may be stuck with the need for more military action even if we do elect a qualified President in 2008.

If it were a choice between the two. Which as many have pointed out would not be a possible event. I would vote for Senator Clinton as by far the best of two bad choices. I live in Arkansas and would prefer to see the entire Clinton crowd out of power. He was a bad Governor, a bad President and I think his wife, who has taken the same money would be almost as bad a President as he was. We have got to find a way to turn our government into a system that does not represent corporate America. The first step in doing that is this year. Vote against anyone who is already in office. From City Council on up. If we keep rejecting the people in office maybe they will get the message. Our entire crowd of people in office has failed to represent the interests of the American people. Turn them out!

W isn't running for re-election, idiot. I'd vote for any female presidential candidates, but not Hillary Clinton.
And how could a female president be "a big threat" to our society ?
It's a stupid question.

Luckily, Bush can't run again so we will never face this choice. Condoleeza Rice makes many of our country's decisions now, so we are actually not so far from having a female president at present. This also shows us that a future female president may favor war.

After seeing the emotional way Kathleen Blanco acted during the hurricane crisis in Louisiana, I'd have to say I sort of understand why we don't want a woman in a higher place of power. We're motherly and emotional by nature ... that is, except for old Hillary. She's downright scary :) She has my vote. At least she can make a clarified sentence without saying "duh" over and over. But since G.B won't be running again anyway ... we don't have to worry about him anymore.
