If European leagues are inferior, as many of you have answered, why are the NBA teams drafting teenage Euros up and down the 1st round and sidestepping NCAA players?

They're high school kids. Their dream has always been to play in the NBA and become rich and famous. Sure they could be a star in the Euroleague but who would notice? Everybody watches the NBA. The NBA is what everybody cares about including those kids. Besides they don't want to leave america and live completely different lives in other countries. They're not ready for that sort of thing.

Because there isn't more money. If there was more money, do you think Lebron James would be playing basketball in Cleveland, Ohio? Soccer, OTOH, gets a flock of players to Europe from around the world.

All athletes, like all people, follow the money trail.

There is very little money in European basketball. Besides, the "culture shock" for American teenagers would be much too great.

American players want to make it to the NBA. If you go to Europe, your exposure to NBA scouts vastly decreases. Besides, the leagues in Europe are completely different from the NBA.

Well my guess is the basketball there isn't near as good as it is here. They also will get paid a lot less. Plus, that would mean a family move. Their lives would be changed completely, just for no being patient
