As many have said, Aspirin is a blood thinner. Using it can cause increased swelling and could cause a clot to break free and travel to the Heart, Lungs, or Brain.

This is curious. Since Aspirin also works as an anticoagulant, it "thins" the blood and increases clotting time. People I know have been encouraged to take aspirin along with tylenol 3 to stop the formation of a deep vein clot. Perhaps the doctor doesn't want decreased clotting time for her.

I agree with those that know that aspirin is a blood thinner. You don't want to cause any other bleeding for it could cause other problems.Besides you have an artery that runs to the heart that could cause some one to bleed out and die if not taken care of immediately. After she begins to heal and mend ask your doctor for some type of pain medication that she can tolerate for some pain medications effect other organs of the body. I used to be a certified EMT and had to deal with broken legs. I'll pray for her that she has a speedy recovery.

easily not! Human soreness drugs can smash a cat's liver in a heartbeat. purely the vet can do something about the leg and provide you a secure soreness reliever on your cat. i am hoping you could take her to an emergency vet this evening if she can't walk on that leg in any respect. a chilly p.c.. wrapped in a towel would help with the swelling if she will have the ability to enable you observe it. about quarter-hour in all of us-hour era. that is going to shrink swelling extremely and could not help with soreness.

I'm wondering if its because they are afraid of a blood clot? Beings she broke it in 4 places, its likely they don't want it thinning the blood and dislodging a blood clot from any area in there. Ask the MD right away, I would.

Aspirin can thin the blood, which could lead to hemmorhaging and swelling. It could also loosen clots and allow them to be carried back to the heart and lungs.
If the doctors say no aspirin, then use tylenol.

aspirin interferes with your platelets' ability to form clots...which means if you start bleeding you won't clot as well...meaning you'll bleed more and longer...which can cause all sorts of complications and interfere with healing.
to be more specific: aspirin inhibits formation of thromboxane-a2 which is necessary for platelet aggregation. 81mg/day (1/4 of a single adult pill) is enough to help prevent heart attacks in many people. 324mg (one adult pill) in a single dose has been shown to improve the outcome in people having heart attacks secondary to clots.

I agree with the other answers that have been provided, it probably has something to do with aspirin being an anticoagulant.

Asprin works as a blood thinner, maybe they don't want that in her system.
