heres a small tip for your project or fun passtime.
scan in a real magazine, newspaper or whatever it is you are trying to emulate in this way.
any way do not scan it as a picture, scan it in in OCR (optical character recognition) What does that do?
it's what you do, you can then remove the print and replace it with your own fun print or whatever, and not affect the layout of the page, such as small ads they can be left there to make your new fun text more authentic, now that's ok at home I THINK but it would infringe copyright if you decided to sell it, so careful on that front.

you can do that in MS publisher or Adobe In-design.
both come as stand alone programs or as a package.
Publisher comes with the full version of MS office.
in the real world of Print publisher is kind of a looked down upon Program as it's a small and simple one While In-design is a real entry level publishing house one.
