Based on sales of alone Intel is the market leader, because of thier integrated graphics chips.

Performance wise it's Nvidia and ATI.

Both ATI and NVIDIA only produce the graphics chips and sell them to other companies like Gigabyte, ASUS, MSI, Sparkle etc. These companies take the reference design and cards (a card made by ATI and NVIDIA for testing) and modify it to get better performance and such.

When it comes to reliablity both ATI and NVIDIA cards from Gigabyte, MSI and ASUS are good choices.

I prefer any brand card running Nvidia Chipsets. Nvidia definitly has better drivers.

ATI and Nvidia.
I like ATI better as when you buy an ATI graphics card, they make both the card and the chipset.
On Nvidia cards, you buy the card from MSI, PNY, BFG etc... and Nvidia makes the chips for them.

ATI & NVidia are the leading graphic-engine chips,
but if you're talking about graphic "ADAPTERS" and not chips, i think there is no leading brand.

ATI, MAXTOR, 3Dlabs, Diamond, VIA.

But many of these are using the same chipsets. THAT is where you want to look. You see, if you buy a Maxtor board, a Diamond or PNY board might be essentially identical.

I recommend that you go with the technical specs of typical boards and PICK the chipset, then compare boards. I like NewEgg because of their REVIEWS.
