We were attacked on Sept. 11th! This set the wheel in motion. Nothing can stop it now! Oil had nothing to do with it!

Your question is absurd. There are a lot of obvious reasons for being there, some good some not. A rouge nation with a threatening dictator is not a good thing. North Korea has no oil, but do we care? Many of us would like to liberate those poor folks in North Korea. As for a goal, what we are doing is a calculated risk. If we manage to create a representative government in Iraq it could be a model for other Arab countries. However, there are no sure things in life.

For sake of argument, let' s assume we are at war exclusively for oil. How will you protest it? Simply by shouting the war is unjust? "Fasting" for 24 hours like some Hollywood types? Be serious about your convictions. If you think we are at war for oil, then quite driving. Do not ride the bus or other pubic transportation. Do not buy anything which is made of or through the assistance of petroleum products. After you have eliminated these things from your daily living, then come back and let's discuss oil.

The original reason for going to war was a valid one. We were attacked and should defend ourselves with every effort. However, we went astray and started attacking a country that had nothing to do with the original reason. So the question is:

-Why are we at war with Iraq?
Out of shear ego. Yes, that includes oil. But I think the main reason lies with the first Gulf War. I believe G. W. wanted to finish what his father was made to stop. Not to mention they all have the hands in the oil jar.

-Is it possible that 9/11 could be Trojan Horse for the war in Iraq?
Everyone forgets that G.W. and family are GOOD Friends with the Binladens. We've gone so many years without any outside terrorist attacks why did one happen all-of-the-sudden at the beginning of a new presidency? It's possible that he encouraged the attack to have a reason to set in motion his original plan---Iraq. I know, why would he kill thousands of innocent people? I answer with a question: Why would Enron take all the retirement away? When someone like him sees green ($) we are all just collateral damage.

-So to answer your question---we are in a war because our president, first and foremost, is a business man who wanted a reason to get his hands on oil and to save his family's name. Ego and greed makes his world go 'round no matter who it hurts.

In the 90's Sadaam attacked Kuwait in an attempt to control the worlds oil. He lost that war and agrred to peace term that required he allow full access to the UN in order to make certain that he wasn't re-arming with WMDs. He did not comply and after 14 years of warnings and after every foreign intelliegence agency (inluding Egypt, Jordan, Germany, Russia and England) said they had intel that he was devloping weapons. George Bush gave him a series of ultimatums. He did not tcomply with the original terms of peace and
we attacked. The WAR part was over in record time. Now the problem was, if we just left, we would be leaving a country in shambles, a majority population (Shite) anxious to wreak revenge on Sasaams supporters (Sunnis) and an ineveitable civil war.
What we are doing now is allowing a free goverment to strengthen, bolstering cooperation between the various groups and fighting those that wish to start a civil war (Al Quida).

We are not in war in Iraq for any stinking oil,Yes, that helped but we are there for humanitarian reasons as well. To give these people a beak from the mean spirited dictator of a leader that they had, so they had a chance to know how it feels to have a dcent leader zand freedoms

Of course we are really there for the oil, but politicians can't admit that--because that makes US the bad guys. Denial/ignorance makes everyone feel better about their big-dumb gas-guzzeling suvs with the ironic "support our troops" stickers.

You already have formed an opinion on that otherwise you wouldn't be asking the question. I believe we are there for the oil.

Control. Money and power... duh

It is like a game of chess whereas we are the pieces. America put Sadam and Bin laden in their former positions. And America took them out when needed. Well actually Bin Laden is still a hold card.
