I mean if you believe in evoluton and the earth is billions of years old, shouldnt that have been ample time for these "higher" beings to contact us or discover us with their high tech gear and gizmos. How hard would it be to take over a bunch of underdeveloped brute beasts like we humans?

Think of it this way, do you have neighbors? Do they fight all the time? Do you go over to their house when they do? If you were an advanced being why would you visit the "Jerry Springer Show" of planets? The human race needs grow up basically. If we can't even get along with our own species why would another species try to communicate with us? Do you knowingly invite bickering people to your house? We kill each other over land, religion, oil, money and drugs just to name a few things, I'm sure if there are other species out there they are quite happy we are not expanding into the cosmos and bringing our filth with us. Maybe someday we as a species will "get it" but I doubt it will be in my lifetime.

The Drake Equation was developed by Frank Drake in 1961 as a way to focus on the factors which determine how many intelligent, communicating civilizations there are in our galaxy. The Drake Equation is at http://www.activemind.com/Mysterious/Topics/SETI/drake_equation.html

One one show that I was watching yesterday, Dr. Seth Shostak of the SETI Institute said that we should find intelligent life within 20 years from now.

what makes you think that someone hasn't already tried to come here in the past and say by chance they crash landed and it was all covered up by our government? honestly I think if there is intelligent life out there they would probably avoid us for a few more millenia, and that if by some chance some planet has beings that are capable of interstellar travel I don't think they would have any reason to try and come and take us over, it just doesn't seem probable

I think no one can even imagine the dimensions of our universe. It expands to trillions & trillinons of light years ( that too only i can imagine ) . So even if some where in the remote parts of the universe life exists, they will not be able to find out us.

It is just like , if there are some 5 ants in this world living in each continents,,,,. what ever they do , they will never meet each other in their life time....

Maybe they have, and decided we needed more time to evolve before making contact with us.

Or, maybe we haven't been discovered yet. The universe is a pretty big place after all. (Understatement of the year)

I don't think we're alone though :)

Two things my dear :

1. If they are "Higher" things.....they know what will happen to intrrupt or come into 'the NATURAL CYCLE' suddenly , of "Lower" things. It will be disturbing time n space relation kindaof things.

2. Imagine, you know your future, and then think the picture of world tomarrow you are going to have. Honestly, may be you change ur future things by manipulating your present now.....but the worldly effects may be dangerous or worse.

See, even the humans qualify as intelligent life - well, to be precise, thats what we have labelled ourselves... so, the other INTELLIGENT "lives" havent found us for the same reason tht we havent been able to absolutely determine their existence... may be even they had sightings of our ships in space and stuff, but they may not be sure -- exactly the same situation as we are in!

Probably enough of high tech, no need for us and our wealth. I mean, Uranium? Or Gold? Petrol? or Make up something like "Astro travel light year space ship and base on Mars"?

Why would you automatically assume they would want to "take over"? Maybe they have evolved past the point of having to control every environment they discover.

They may be just observing to see if we will stay around long enough to join them.

They might not be superior... Or we may not have been able to understand and respond... Or Dick Cheney is covering it up... Or it may still happen, but just hasn't happened yet because the universe is so vast and complex...
