Sometimes the word "stupid" becomes a wake up call for those who really never take the time to think things through. Whether it be through word or deed. It is an offensive word that denotes the lack of consequence.

That's a less clever question. The word stupid is taken from an old description of a person who is mentally challenged. Stupid today only means 'detestable'. Mentally challenged people are not detestable, but are stupid. Does that make sense?
People just need to start using a real vocabulary and not the slang of the undereducated society.

No I think stupid is easier to say because it's one word instead of two words like less clever. Humans like to find the quickest way to get things done, that includes talking. That's why people come up with slang words.

Dear Hopeful Controller of Thought,

im not limiting my FREE SPEECH because you don't like the way something sounds, or becuase its too harsh. I'm really sick and tired of you politically correct people trying to control what i say, becuase "O, thats not very nice! You hurt there feelings!" well, if im calling them stupid, NO ****! thats kinda the point.if i really gave a **** about what you wanted me to say, then id be e-mailing you. this may seem un-necessary to you, but im really tired of all this politically correctness. i can hardly say what i want to anymore, and i really cant express what im thinking, because its not politically correct. when im choosing friends, if they were taught to be politically correct, i cant joke around, cus then they start saying im a bad person, and i should really stop saying what it is that im saying. all because people like you put the idea of being poolitically correct into there mind. i have the first amendment which grants me free speech, and i do not intend on having it taken away by a goup of easily offended, and truly pathetic people. you should reall watch some foamy videos and try to learn something. www.illwillpress.com watch and learn because you really need to stop trying to limit what others want to say because you feel that the word stupid isnt very nice, and should be replace with "less clever" it doesnt have the same feel to it, and doesnt mean the same thing. so now i can't express my full opinion becasue youi've decided that we should be saying less clever. why would i say that anyway? its stupid. see? it looks better too. if i said less clever, then i would have not put the same feeling into what i have just typed, because i said "less clever" so im sorry that i went off on you like this but like i said before, im really tired of politically correctness.

What is stupid politically incorrect now? Or is this another step on the journey to cleanse any language that could be derogatory from our vocabulary.

The problem isn't the tool (word) it is how it is used and how it is received. If you're thin skinned when you hear it then get over it. If you are callous when you use it then maybe you could be a bit more considerate.

Don't be a victim to other people's opinions or lack of tact!

well, if you want to say 'less clever', less clever than what? than who? it's a comparison.

stupid, however, is an adjective. in many situations, it's perfect. like this: 'i'm really sorry, i know it was a stupid thing to do'. imagine having to say 'i'm really sorry, i know it was a less clever thing to do'. hmm, just doesn't work somehow ......

if it concerns you that much, just don't say it. but be aware that other people have the right to say it and try not to take offence.

nope, some ideas and people are, and this is a fact, stupid. And you could not say a phrase such as "you can catch gay" for example is less clever. It is however, stupid.
