India and China are fast growing economies and consume more resources put together than the whole world. But India and China put together also make the majority of this sphere whome we call earth and individual consumption of any thing that causes Global warming is still less than the developed countries like US.
This fact can be very well established using stats available. Just do some research on net.

China and India show rapid increase in global warming emissions
World Bank

Greenhouse gases on the rise, China and India show rapid increase; Rich countries consume more than half the energy produced in the globe; Poor countries still depending on traditional fuels

Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions continue to rise with a mix of old and new polluters, according to the Little Green Data Book 2006, launched today on the occasion of the Fourteenth Session of the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD-14). An annual publication of the World Bank, according to this year’s edition, CO2 emissions worldwide have now topped 24 billion metric tons (the most recent comprehensive data are for 2002), an increase of 15 percent compared to the 1992 levels.

no I don't think we have reached a no return critical threshold. But its true china is really starting to pollute, whereas dirty old america has always been a polluter and will be for awhile until they get a decent government in, who will address the global warming issues.

But china is making some postive steps like designing environmnetally friendly buildings for their mega cities, things like using solar power, having good insulation to reduce heating costs and loads of other basic stuff that can easily be designed into constructions to help save the planets well being.

Yes, of course they do - it is normal in the process of catching up. At least as long as we - meaning all industrialized countries - do not finally think of a new more sustainable development model... They showed some pictures on TV about what is going on in China and it's horrible - air polluted and the ground water is not drinkable anymore. THERE IS A HUGE NEED FOR A CHANGE IN THINKING! But apparently no political will....

Every nation contributes to the problem of global warming, unfortunately. All the cars in the US and Europe contribute to global warming. The Brazilians and the Malaysians hacking away at their rain forests doesn't help. The Chinese and the Indians using coal fired power plants doesn't help.
I think we are screwed.

It's not only India and China but also the USA who refuse to follow the Kyoto agreement and keep on burning fossil fuels. At the moment it is the USA that produces more pollution than any other country!

Why blame China and India? The United States are the biggest offenders...we are not at the no-return point yet, but we are getting there.

I think India's main contribution to global warming has to do with the Hindu religion that forbids them from eating cows. I read somewhere that all of the cows in India are a major source of greenhouse gases.

Global warming, being global in nature, is affected by, and will effect, all regardless of national boundaries.
