north korea thinks they can do what they want and iran is going ahead with nuclear development, yes both countries are on the verge of nuclear success but so many other countries have nukes, as we do, but where do we stop covering our own safety and cross the line to world police, both situations cause national security probability but do we have the right to go in and stop them? should they be free to make nukes? should be have the power to stop a country from developing?

My solution probably leads to something akin to the Cuban missile crisis. Etch our position in stone, and don't back down. We are essentially being blackmailed. That is unacceptable. For our freedoms we should be willing to stand up to those threats.

First, I believe that we should open up a dialog with them. Not the type of dialog where you negotiate, the type that you lay down the facts; etch the line in stone (drawing it sand makes it too easy to erase and start over).

Iran and North Korea should both be made fully aware of what we as a global community will allow and what we will do if that line is crossed. If the global community can't decide, then the USA should at least state their own intents.

Then put the forces in place to enforce our (hopefully "our" includes the world) position. Then act as we have said we will act.

If there is any level of sanity, everyone will realize that we cannot accept being put at risk and we can and will protect ourselves. I believe that Iran and North Korea can understand that if we put it in no uncertain terms. I also think they will understand that though we may suffer casualties, they would be utterly destroyed.

Yes there would be economic backlash if the final solution had to be implemented, but I believe the safety of the world would warrant it.

I am by no means a war monger. But you wouldn't let children get away with this behavior; why allow these two?

The greatest difficulty that arises when dealing with nations is knowing the true purpose of the nations involved. Unfortunately, there are too many hidden agendas on all sides and it becomes a hit and miss approach when governments take public action to supposedly resolve a situation. Countries do not invest substantial amounts of their GDP into nuclear weapons technology unless they perceive a need for this investment. With this in mind, I think that we can agree, that all of these nations want to exist and continue to exist without the fear of attack our occupation (neither literally nor economically). Therefore, we must break through our history of posturing and develop some form of mutual trust and understanding. This, if done properly, will allow us to actually deal with the disease instead of treating the symptoms of our conflicts.

Regarding this specific question, if these nations, or in fact any nation, feels the need to develop a nuclear program as a form of energy, then instead of questioning their motives and generating fear of what may come of this, we should instead give them such a program, develop it, build it and run it for them, under the control of the United Nations or some other global entity, which in return will receive complete autonomy from the host nation on the handling and operations of the facilities. That way, we can look humanitarian, garner trust and at the same time, guarantee that these facilities are not used for other nefarious purposes.

Two-part question. First, North Korea commenced with hostilities on the Korean peninsula in 1950. Both the Chinese and Soviets aided them at that time( Chinese troops and Soviet pilots ). Although the situation was essentially put back to the very starting blocks the engagement started from ( 38th parallel--present day DMZ ), an armistice was never signed. The North Koreans have cheated at ever possible turn. Did you also know that at Pamunjon where "peace' talks were being held after hostilities ceased, North Korean soldiers would bring their assault rifles with them under heavy coats ( a definite no-no under the terms agreed ), so we turned the heat way up inside the building and watched them sweat like the pigs they were? They are not to be trusted. Kim il Sung, the current leader's father believed ferverently in creating a crisis whenever possible? The same is true today. This nation is so suicidal that if in possession of nuclear weapons, they would use them for the slightest of perceived provocations regardless if it meant total annihilation of everything north of the 38th? They do not care. It is their wish to achieve some sort of military parity with the rest of the world's powers at any cost. Any breakout of hostilities on the peninsula now would mean utter devastation for both North and South Korea. We cannot permit them to achieve any leverage on the west. North Korea is a cancer that simply must be excised, though the method is by no means certain at this time.
Iran is Israel's mortal enemy. Armageddon is preicted to occur ( the battle of ), why usher it in prematurely by allowing the psychotic Iranian regime to possess nuclear arms knowing their primary objective is the destruction of the Israeli state or forcing a showdown in the straits of Hormuz? Sorry, but GW got this one right. These nations do represent an axis of evil in this world and to deny it is to bury one's head in the sands of Iraq.

The more nukes the greater the chance for them o be used for some trivial reason. The problem is EVERYONE expects the US to handle the problem (ie sanctions) and as soon as the US places sanctions other piss ant countries see an opportunity for profit by not supporting the concept(the UN is a joke, remember Annons sons smuggling). Then when the rogue nations invade them they whine help us.North Korea and Iran just want to try to blackmail everyone else.I mean really telling its people that the US wants to invade them. They haven't got anything the US would want. What would they do with 100s of millions of lazy starving lay abouts....

We did not shoulder the Korean warfare by using ourselves. It turned right into a UN attempt and that i believe that the UN would step in back. Or, on the different hand, an attack by using North Korea upon South Korea might want to certainly amplify right into a nuclear disagreement as their chief is a whack interest and would probably motel to the nuclear option if he idea (genuine or imagined) that he become dropping.

We must tread with extreme care.

Some countries having nukes would not be a problem. Trouble with Iran particularly and possibly Korea is that their leaders are just likelt to be stupid enough to use them even if it meant their country would be wiped out in return.

If you don't want global war then you sure do not want those two countries to have nuclear weapons.

Blow them up first and cry for the innocent people later. Close the borders. Live in a police state. mabe become commys just for fun. There is no answer. People are good and bad everywhere in the world. Nobody likes to be told what to do or be threatened. There are to many people on the planet to even fake like we could all get along.

Why is it more and more countries in Asia see the US as a bigger threat to world peace than Iran or North Korea?

China will be forced to deal with N.K. , and hopefully Israel will take out Iran. We should let nature take its course and not interfere. Countries other than the US are threatened much more than we are. Japan and Taiwan are affected by N.K., and the entire gulf region does NOT want Iran to have Nukes, especially Israel.

We are the only country to use the weapon and on innocent civilians.

Now we have distributed the technology around the world. They can do what they want. China is the real enemy there anyway. We wont stop N.Korea or Iran - we can't.
