What kind of answer are you looking for dude? When I hear that question I think about Placebo...the band. If you haven't heard it you should listen to it. Pretty interesting. I myself don't really know what the phrase means...Maybe the friend in need is a friend indeed because once they are aided then they owe you one?

I BELIEVE THAT A FRIEND IS SUPPOSE TO BE THERE ALWAYS FOR YOU NO MATTER WHAT. I JUST FOUND OUT THAT MY LONG TIME FRIEND ISN'T REALLY MY FRIEND. PEOPLE SAY THAT BLOOD IS THICKER THAN WATER AND I SAY THAT BLOOD IS THICKER THAN MUD. I DO EVERYTHING FOR HER THINGS THAT HER FAMILY WOULD NEVER DO. WE SAY THAT WE'RE COUSINS BECAUSE MY UNCLE WAS MARRIED TO HER AUNT BUT WE ARE REALLY JUST FRIENDS. NOW I REALLY KNOW WHAT A FRIEND IS. I THINK ALL PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW WHAT A FRIEND IS. I THINK THAT I AM A FRIEND TO THE END AND JUST LIKE YOU SAID A FRIEND INDEED

this line abt friendship was made long ago. but thses days u dont really find it true. many people who v think is r true friend turn to be someone who has just used u for somework so u really gotta be smart enought to choose ur frinds these days.
