11 months is a long time to gestate a baby. Theyre pretty much done developing by that time, unless the lungs are underdeveloped for some reason.
There are magazines out there for the 42 week pregnant woman, believe it or not. Another 2 weeks doesnt seem implausible, but it does seem like the little tyke should be paying rent by that point.
As to how you tell if they're actually 44 weeks pregnant, assuming competent medical care, it should have been diagnosed within the first 2 months. You just read the calendar from there, bub. Barring that, if the kid comes out with 5 o'clock shadow, he's from a long pregnancy.

If you carried a baby for 44 weeks good luck pushing it out Im sure it was miscalulated because most doctors wont even let you go past your 42nd week after that the baby gets to big to be in there.

back in 1979, my mom carried my brother for 44 weeks. Let's just say it isn't really good for the baby. Nowadays, doctors will induse labor at 42 weeks, to prevent a lot of possible medical issues with both mommy and baby.

You *could* carry 44 weeks, but if you're getting prenatal care a doctor probably wouldn't let you. A baby needs to be born before it gets too developed.
See a L&D physicain *NOW*, if you haven't already.

Well, a women normally carries the baby 40 weeks...which is 10 months. So you could go 11 months. Actually most women in there first pregnancy tend to go londer then the normal 10 months. Your doctor should just keep an eye on you.

44 weeks is to long! unless the dates are wrong. My friend lost her baby at 42 weeks because the doc let her go to long. You can tell by a ultrasound and if you are 44 weeks I'd get myself to another doc asap

I knew a lady who was 45 weeks when she delivered (many many years ago). The baby had a lot of medical problems and was disabled because of the difficulty of the delivery. It is unlikely that a doctor in today's world would allow a baby to go over 42 weeks.

It would be dangerous to the baby. Most doctors wont you let go past 42 weeks, and now some wont even let you go past 41 weeks. The placenta starts to not work as well this late, and the baby actually starts losing weight.

The doctors usually don't let you go past 42 weeks because the baby becomes too big to deliver. But if the fetus is small, they may let it go that long. Very rare.

if the baby remains in your uterus past 40 weeks, the chances that he or she has had a bowel movement increase. breathing the meconium (what the baby excretes) is dangerous. therefore, doctors like to induce delivery at anything past 40 weeks and usually will not let the baby go anything past 42 weeks.
