Yes, my science teacher did that experiment for us. He put about 8 Mentos into a 2 liter bottle of Coke. The coke just sprayed out of the bottle and the bottle was almost empty in just around 15 sec. of time. It amazing, and definitely fun to watch! :)

Yup, did try it. The reaction is immediate and it goes really fast. I took a 50cl bottle and 2 mentos. Very impressive.
I wonder if it would work when drinking Diet Coke and swallowing a mentos right after .... ? Has anyone tried ???

I haven't personally tried this.
Here's the best video I've seen on it though. Two guys, dozens of liters of diet coke and hundreds of Mentos. All choreographed to a music track.

The carbonation contained in the soda water for the coke fizzes up antagonistic to the porous texture of the Mentos'. It easily would not explode it purely fizzes at a larger cost simply by 'dents' contained in the sweet.
