The best Anti-virus is: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. (www.grisoft.com)
The Best Spyware defense is: SpyBot Search and Destroy (www.spybot.info)
AND: AdAware SE (www.lavasoft.com)
AND Spyware Blaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.info/kb/)
The best Firewall besides the one that comes with Windows is: Zone Alarm (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/co... or just (www.zonelabs.com) and select the FREE version.
These are all FREE and are all that are required. There is no reason to pay for this kind of software, except to give a donation to the writers if you can.
ALL the above programs are recommended and should be run on a regular basis. With some the free versions they must be run manually.
The best way to avoid getting any Malware (virus, Trojan's, spyware, etc) is to practice safe computing. Microsoft and many others have countless articles on the subject of safe computing. (something I think should be taught in schools)

Installing the ad/spyware applications previously mentioned is a good idea and may take care of your problem. If your "14 spywares" are just cookies, then I would say you don't really have a problem. However, if they're the more insidious kind of infection causing problems with your system then you'll need more help than can be offered here in this limited forum format.
Depending on what you may have, there may be specific removal tools and protocols needed for cleaning this up. I would recommend you visit one of the free online tech help sites where folks who have experience in removing these entries can take the time to work with you individually and help you.
Two sites that I'm involved with:
http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/...
http://forums.techguy.org/
Good luck.

get the spybot and ad-ware SE to remove the spyware. Also install spywareblaster to prevent getting the spyware in the first place. Keep them updated. For spywareblaster after you update then must click on the immunize tab.
Will be able to find all of them here. http://www.download.com/

go to www.download.com and search for ad aware 1.06 than scan your computer it should find it if not than try this on the same website and search for spybot 1.04.
than what i would do is to put AVG antivirus thats what you need to get rid of what ever is on your computer and to make it hard for viruses to get in.
