In the short term there would be disruptions, but with less money being sent out of the country for various widgets, folks would save and invest more. Costs of the few remaining available widgets would rise to a point where competition and American inventiveness would make it profitable to regenerate new manufacturing again in this country.
Don't forget, the Chinese are using technologies licensed, some times pirated and stolen, and mostly developed in the west, especially the U.S.; these techonogies of course being said to be not profitable enough to manufacture in this country under our wage and regulatory enviroment.
These technologies could be held back from the Chinese if were also proven that the Chinese were backing said terrorism!

Shattered? No, I dont think so, people would just have to pay more to get items they need. Just because the cheapest stuff is made in China, doesnt mean that the same stuff isnt made elsewhere for a higher price. Of course, Im speaking currently, if China keeps growing the way it has, then in the future, it would potentially become a Yes. Just remember though- the US economy is the largest in the world. As the US economy goes, so does the economy of everyone else. If the US economy is somehow "shattered", you would almost certainly see another global depression.

Don't worry. China has little chance of stopping its might economic growth. And, no, the US economy would not be shattered because China stopped exporting--the US would exploit other poor countries in Africa instead.
What might shatter the US economy is if China stopped lending money to Americans so they can buy Chinese goods. African nations have no money to lend the US, so maybe that wouldn't work. But anyway, terrorism is not a problem in China. And China owns the US, so don't worry about your Chinese-made goods. They'll keep flowing.

I think people in the USA would just start making the junk themselves. The K-Mart, WalMart, and BigLots stuff by and large is junk. Cheap stuff cheaply made doesn't last very long anyway.
Before trade with China opened up, I could for example buy nice yardage and MAKE my own clothing. Nowdays, when you go into a fabric store - which have all turned into an arts and crafts and fabric store, I can't find anything I would use for my own sewing projects.
I'd love to sew my own clothing, but the interesting fabrics aren't made in the USA anymore! All the fabric is made overseas and the clothing made from it is made overseas and the raw materials never make it to our shores! Only junky artsy-craftsy fabrics make it to the fabric stores!
So, I think the USA would just make it's own stuff again.

China is the manufacturing powerhouse of the world; it imports very little, and exports practically everything it produces. The largest purchaser of Chinese made goods is the USA
So if it imposed a trade boycott against the USA, then the USA would suffer greatly, because it would have to then buy those goods elsewhere at much higher prices.

Very Good Question. If it is the Islamic Extremest terrorist they would stick out in China, but yes i think it Will definitely effect the economy for the time being. Those stores you name WalMart, Big Lots, Kmart would try to look and depend on other places that they get shipment from (Taiwan). But yes it will hurt the economy initially

No - others would take up production and it would be fine. China is simply the cheapest producer of such goods, and we buy cheaper versions of the same goods whenever possible, other things being equal. If China were suddenly to stop exporting to the US for whatever reason, we would either buy from another country that is the next cheapest producer or, if it were cheaper, manufacture the goods ourselves.

No, but we'd feel inflation much more completely. Inflation is high today (see gas prices, home prices, costs of education, gold, copper, commodities), but because of cheap imported goods, Americans hardly notice it. If our cheap imports from China disappeared, we'd simply be able to see the inflation much more clearly. Perhaps then we'd understand how our free-spending government is hurting our nation, and we'd put a stop to it at the next election.

No. You'd be able to buy "Made in USA" at the Walmart, again. China was Clinton's "Most Favored Nation" even after Tienanmen Square.

Nope. People would just become self-reliant. It's not about how Americans have a great industrial history and all that. People just learn to adjust and adapt.
