"Addiction to masturbation" means that you masturbate so much that this interferes with your other necessary or enjoyable activities. If it's less than that, it is NOT an addiction, simply a very pleasurable activity in which you are fortunate enough to able to indulge with satisfaction. Enjoy it -- your capacity will diminish with age, and you'll eventually wish you had done it MORE rather than LESS. If you have a problem with irritating your penis (especially if you are circumcised)) or clitoris, try using a gentle lubricant such as K-Y.
Now, on the chance that you are unable to control your masturbation in public, or that you masturbate so much that you miss out on other things you would like to do, there are several techniques that might help. The most obvious is to masturbate BEFORE you go to school or work etc. and allow your refractory period (the time interval during which you are relatively unresponsive) to work FOR you. More difficult is the method called "thought stopping," which teaches you how to divert your stream of thought from sexual ideas to neutral stimuli BEFORE you reach the point where you are "carried away." This is a bit too techinical for right here, but I'm sure you could find a decent book on the subject at your public library, Amazon, or eBay. I'd be happy to chat with you further; you may contact me if you so desire.

All addiction is the same: there's a real problem underneath that the addiction covers up. If you're addicted to anything, masturbation included, you need to be brave, stop, and then check out the feelings you go through when you don't do it. Only when you've dealt with the real issues will you be able to end the addiction.

Masturbation is not an addiction first of all. Second if you have a good sex life masturbation should be the last resort, only used when your lover is gone for long periods of time. It's great when that happens other than that I would find a sexual partner that blows my panties off!

There's a 12-Step Group called Sexaholics Anonyous.
Me, at my age, I'm going to a Urologist and ask about surgical or chemical castration.
I'm unable to get a girl friend, so why do I need this useless thing?

'Compulsive masturation' is destructive.
It causes physical and emotional damage.
Addiction to pornography is not unusual. Look at the amounts of internet traffic and money spent on it.
It can cause you to shut down parts of your life. Not seeing friends, family, being depressed, feeling dirty, becoming distracted, preoccupied, having feelings of rage and anger.
You can seek help by;
1. talking to a therapist
2. reading books on it. Patrick Carnes is excellent
3. checking out sex addicts anonymous, sexaloholics anonymous, recovering couples anonymous

Desire is like a stray cat at your porch. If you feed it, it 'll come back for more. If you don't, it will go away. If it is a strickly hormonal drive you feel it is probably due to your diet. Become vegetarian. Your testosteron will drop to normal levels because you get less zinc.
