I think "Blue" by Joni Mitchell is the best album I have ever heard. It's a lot of beautiful, simple, songs with Joni singing and playing either piano or acoustic guitar.
"In Reverie" by Saves the Day is one of my personal favorites. It's a pop-rock type of sound with very poetic lyrics and sweet, sweet vocal melodies.
Those are my best 2 suggestions.

Depends what you're into....Wave of Mutilation by Pixies is pretty good, it's a best of so you don't have lots of filler. Radiohead's The Bends is great. But if you like something more poppy Christina Ags Stripped was fun.
