Global warming is one side of the argument but even events required for global warming in their argument are not happening and in fact are happening to the reverse of their predictions.
An equal number of scientists say global warming is not true and tha an ice age is more likely. A little bit of credibility here as some oceans and seas are actually getting colder and it is not from melt water.
Most scientists, politicians and the media hedge their bets and now call it "Climate Change".
The earth has gone through far greater changes many times.
The world started with no ice, lots of sea and a supercontinent. The continent split up and moved to the places the individual continents positions now. Whilst there has been upthrust this has been mainly in inland areas. Due to erosion there is slightly less landmass around sea level but even if all the ice melted the majority of the landmass would be above water. So you can put that life jacket away and forget about building that ark!

I don't have the answer anymore than the next person. All I'll submit is that back April 1970, the date of the first Earth Day in the US I was a junior in high school. And for the previous 3 years and during all the hoopla of that 1st Earth Day the prevailing "scientific wisdom" of the time proclaimed that we were headed for a new and devastating (is there any other kind I recall wondering) ICE AGE. Now, 36 years later the prevailing "scientific wisdom" says we are heating up and we are doomed by the Green house effect. Personally, I vote that we are in one of earth's cycles. Is the current cycle part of man's impact on the environment; I wouldn't dispute that as part of the equation.

Its Real.
I think that Earth has a cycle, like the ice age and the melt down of the huge masses of ice which left over the gigantic icecaps in the north and south poles.
I don’t think that nature taking its course is dangerous, what is dangerous is us Humans the inconsiderate inhabitants of this poor planet accelerating such a process with our ignorance and irresponsible actions abusing the environment and disturbing the balance of the Ecological system.

Of course it's real. Why shouldn't the planet warm up with a great percentage of it's energy stores being converted to heat and carbon dioxide. These stores (oil, coal, peat, gas, etc.) were laid down millions of years ago and are not being replenished. As any THINKING high school chemistry student know: MATTER CAN BE NEITHER CREATED, NOR DESTROYED; ONLY TRANSFERRED. When temperatures rise, chemical reaction time increases and the stores will be replenished, land masses will have additional water,( guess how) plant life will greatly increase both in abundance and speed of growth. This is how the energy deposits came about in the first place. I believe that there is nothing anyone can do about it and the probability is that no one living today will see it happen.

Global warming caused by humans is absolutely, irrefutably real. It is the vast majority consensus in the scientific community. There is only a debate in politics and among average citizens who have been fed propaganda from both sides. The established scientific peer-reviewed community of experts is in agreement, there is no debate there!! Now if only the politicians would pay attention to the scientists who actually know what they are talking about! It is pathetic that this has become a political issue, and that people wont just look at the facts.

Real, but not because of man. The earth periodically goes through warming and cooling stages. I'm not saying that we shouldn't do everything we can to reduce our emissions, but we aren't having the impact some people want you to think we are. We(mankind) certainly didn't cause the warm up that ended the last ice age did we? I'm just not that worried about it.

The current warming seems to be real. And human existence seem to correlate with it.
However, perhaps we need to be answering questions such as these?
Is such a warming trend largely just part of long term global cycles?
Was the warming trend happening anyway?
How much have humans seemed to contribute to the trend, and how significant is that compared to what would have happened anyway?
Why don't we think that planet can adjust and handle this current warming trend?

I think the earth is going through another cycle. Remember nature is the greatest polluter of all sending millions of tons of chlorine into the air from volcanoes and the ocean every year.
Man's pollution is a miniscule amount of the pollution, and I think we are doing a pretty good job of limiting our pollution.

It is unclear from the research. More needs to be done. In the meantime, it can only help to take better care of the earth.
