We are the master species, do lions have the inclination to mass slaughter us. No. Sadly the answers given, bar 3, make me wonder about mankinds ability to reason rationally.
This is exasperating, perplexing and extremely disturbing.

Because we are. A lot of us only know how to destroy, kill and steal.
I think the animal world is more evolved than we are. Did you see what happened when the tsunami hit? Most of the animals hauled @$$ way before the water came to shore. How is it that most dogs can detect things like cancer or imminent danger before we know what's going on?
The Earth is losing patience with us, but yet most of us are still hellbent on looking out for number 1. This planet will have it's revenge on us eventually.

We are not the master species. That's something put about by religion (which would have us believe we were created by God and did not evolve). Animals are superior to humans in my opinion because they do not waste their time on distracting themselves from life with more and more games and competitive pursuits to prove their superiority. (Though they DO play, and anyone who has a pet and isn't hopelessly anthropomophic, must have noticed that they think very well)They fight when threatened and don't appear to need to make up pretexts for going to war on each other. Their fighting is usually one to one; and I believe that they know they are just as much a part of us as we are of them and the rest of the cosmos, although we are, generally speaking, unaware of this (apart from some yogis I imagine). I too have had the experience of realising this and it is not an easy thing to communicate in a world which doesn't have words for it., but it's a very powerful and enlightening experience. I'm no yogi. My experience was an unexpected and spontaneous thing which happened some years ago but I'll never forget it. (No, I wasn't on any substances!) Our Greek foundations of education based on logic and proofs is all very well in it's way but it shouldn't be to the exclusion of sensitivity and other more intangible things. If we de-escalate our consumerism and get in touch with our "spiritual side" (and I don't mean religion by that) we will start to see that our earth is a good home and worthy of care and our so-called enemies are our human brothers and sisters. Of course I realise that sounds corny but it can't be helped, it's true.

I wish I had an answer for this, but I don't. I often wonder about this myself. We use religion, as an excuse for violence, we have children neglected by their families., we have porn all over the Internet, we have hate crimes based on the color of someones skin or sexual orientation, we have wonderful technologies and medications to cure certain illnesses but still see people dying from from some illnesses because they don't have the money to afford the treatment, the list can go on and on. Great question, I hope you get a lot of great answers.

Honey, you are worried about the wrong thing. You are looking at the symptoms not the problem.
This world needs Jesus. But many of our so-called churches have made Him a stench in the nostrils of the people who need Him most. It may be too late.

We say we are the masters but we made that up ourselfs. We are Gods creatures and he is the master. Our lifes are so complicated as we make it and thats probably why some people say we are stupid. To darn complicated in my view.

What are we doing? Evolving!
