What do I say to people who think I'm silly for turning down places at universities at the top of the league table for my subject? (Bristol, Durham, York, Bath, Cambridge). They weren't right for me?

I've learned in life that you shouldn't have to explain anything to anyone ... If you feel you are choosing the right path for yourself, you shouldn't have to explain it ....

Maybe sit down w/ parents and share your heart, especially if they're paying for your tuition.

I used to be horrible w/ saying "no" to people, and then I felt I had to give a 20 minute long reason why I said no, and now that I'm an adult, I realize, I don't have to do that!

I'm not saying to be rebellious... I'm saying that if you really feel you need to turn down something, then you need to seriously think and pray about it. Don't contimplate it yourself... talk to your parents, a teacher, a pastor, and get some wisdom before you make your decision. It will make it easier. :o)

Follow your heart!! [but make sure you really think about it, and get some council on it too] and you DONT have to answer to the general public about your decision... Stand for what you believe... I can tell you a TON of things in my life where I followed my heart [w/ council] and if I didn't, I wouldn't have the family I have today... or be where I'm at. :o)

Hope that helps! :o)

That's sufficient. "They weren't right for me." End of story! Going to university is a big commitment. You have to be sure you're going to the place that's right for you, not them. And when you've said all that to them, say "So ner."
Good Luck!

If you don't want to take advantage of the best education you can get, then that's OK - hope you're not planning on being a brain surgeon (politician would be OK though).

I don't think you should have to justify what you do for you...you are the one living your life. Just tell people it was the best choice for you....simple as that!!!

You say "I know myself, personal interests, and how I learn better than anyone else so I know my own choices to be sound and nobody should disagree."
