I didn't touch the stuff to color her hair, but I was breathing in the stuff while I was doing it.

Q: Is it safe to dye your hair when you're pregnant?

A: Tatelbaum says he isn't aware of scientific data that answers this question.

"Anything someone applies to their body is absorbed by the system. The small amount that is absorbed is probably going to get into the pregnancy a little bit. What that's going to do to the fetus in the long run you don't know."

Tatelbaum leaves the decision up to his patients, telling them that they are responsible for their actions.

thas been no evidence of any danger from coloring hair during this time. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist's Planning for Pregnancy, Birth & Beyond says using hair color or hair perm products "is okay when you're pregnant. The New York office of the Organization of Teratology Information Services, which provides information on potential reproductive risks, says that while the data are limited, coloring your hair during pregnancy is probably safe. They point out that these chemicals have been around a long time and no research shows they cause defects in newborns. Plus, if you apply them safely (using gloves in a well-ventilated room), you don't really absorb much of the chemicals into your system.

You know the stuff isn't all that great, but it won't do really any damage. I mean don't do it everyday or anything like that. Doctors actually say that it is OK for a pregnant woman to dye her hair after her first trimester. You should be fine.

No. I had my own hair died while I was pregnant. There is nothing to back up that it could do any harm to your baby.... I think the fumes may not be so good for the baby so if you do it again just make sure you are in a well ventilated room.

More than likely no. There is inconclusive data showing that dying hair is harmful to the baby. It is basically just up to you to either be around it or use it. Lots of women do with no harm to their baby.
