How on earth did you come up with that conclusion? You have no concept of the problems facing Africa. Cash is the least of them. Instead of regurgitating some mindless babble you may have heard, try looking at the facts.

You can't just give money to Africa!!! I'm sick of hearing this. Near enough the whole continent is corrupt and the money goes into some generals bank account and buys a couple yachts. The amount of cash I've given when there's still tenement blocks and child poverty in this country that could have been sorted 5000 times over, never mind 5!
Bob Geldof can go f*** himself! And too right we went into Iraq! At least people can vote now, and yeah that means everyone. Once again universal suffrage exists in another country. I'm giving nothing to charity until the same happens in Africa, at least we'll know where the monies going!!!

You state that like it is a fact. Parts of Africa that are starving and engaged in civil wars and suffer from other problems. The starvation and poverty there will not go away until those issues are resolved. Could we have used the money spent in Iraq to solve all those problems?.
If so, please tell us how, and then we can use your plan in Iraq to solve the problems there (and then move on to Africa).
If not, then I think you will realize that your statement is wishful thinking and not based on any fact.
If throwing money at something would solve the problem, we would be done with Bin Laden, Iraq, Iran, North Korea and domestic drug abuse.

I'd rather the money be ploughed into our pension funds so I don't have to work till i'm bloody 68!!!
Or into the NHS / Schools etc.
It's alright throwing money at Africa, but the Country can't support the number of people who live there, they get more money, the small % that actually reaches the people and improves their lives results in more kids which exacerbates the whole problem!
It's alright pulling Africa out of poverty....but what then? What happens next time the rains fail or there's another civil war?

You ever see a lottery winner go broke in 5 years? Same situation with Africa. They'd start another civil war or massacre somewhere. It couldn't work.
You would think that if we wanted to "solve" poverty we would start in the US. Not the case. Ever heard of the Soviet Union? If any system was set up to to eliminate poverty and make everything equal, it was the USSR, except something happened...it didn't work.
Aids? Sure. Poverty? Not a ******* chance.

First of all, your premise is completely flawed and simply untrue.
Secondly, why should it be our responsibility to "pull Africa out of poverty"?
Why can't these people, who have supposedly been around longer then anyone, work things out for themselves? I don't believe myself to be racist in most respects, but it is hard to look at an entire continent of people, who simply lack the ability to provide for themselves, in even the most basic ways, and not draw some negative conclusions.
While most of the world progresses forward, even the 'third world' countries to our south are making progress year after year, Africa simply sits there like a street corner beggar.
To hell with 'em I say. They don't deserve the money we are giving them, until they can show the world they have even the slightest clue on what to do with it.

I think spending money on poverty would be much better than spending it on war, but I"m afraid that warring is a natural state for humanity. I also think that all the over paid athletes and actors and CEO's should donate at least one half of their earnings to help the truly needy. And that ALL of us should donate more. I wish I knew a legitimate, trustworty way to do so.

Both of those options are **** when there are plenty of problems on home soil that could be sorted out. Besides if we did pull Africa out of poverty they'd probably start arming themselves and bite the hands that have fed them.

I'm unaware of anyone (any nation, let alone any continent) ever being pulled out of poverty. Prosperity, the reciprocal of poverty, is not brought on by alms [stolen from the prosperous]. What's needed is for these people to understand the enlightenment (and for us to rediscover it too).

My view? Why should we pull Africa out of anything??? Let the great UN do it and maybe they should stop having so many babies. That would be a start!
