Bono is using his celebrity status to speak out about what he believes in. Shouldn't he be applauded for his efforts. Here is a guy who has the attention of world leaders...why shouldn't he take this opportunity to try and do some good. Why do people critize those who try and do good things for the world????

Apparently no one on this ******** site knows what humanitarianism is. So I'll explain for all you dumbasses. It's a person who helps other people in need. Like Bono helps Africa. It's valid, he puts so much work into all that he does and all you people do is mock it. I don't think it's meddling to want to end poverty b/c I'm sure the Africans don't want to keep starving to death. But no one on this site takes that in consideration, no one thinks about the dying people.

Is it so horrible to care about other human beings and help when you have the ability to help? And give of your time and money when you don't have to do anything at all?
I don't know where this Bono bashing comes from, and I'm getting sick of it.

1) If you are a conservative republican then he's a nanny boy (check out Joey Scarborough)
2) If you're a human being, what could be possibly wrong with wanting to show the plight of the African people?
If you care about what goes in Africa, why ask this question?

He is one of many spearheads of an international altruist movement. Notice that not only pop-cult followings gravitate to his cause, but also the Bush administration (Snow, I think it was, went on tour with him).
During that last benefit concert, we saw where this movement aims: "We don't want your money, we want you".
The solution to poverty , in his movement's view (and most altruists) is merely a matter of the right balance of forced wealth transfers.
Absent is any recognition of what creates wealth & prosperity: the Enlightenment that lead to capitalism.
