Because it is a situation we should all be interested in and he is in a position to help those who can not help themselves. The problems in africa and other third world countries needs to be addressed and it is good that high profile people like bono find time to help and if you think that the people of africa think themselves nannied and patronised then maybe you should visit some of the areas in africa most affected by war and famine and see how the aid raised by events like "live 8" is having a positive effect and how it gives hope to those who without his "meddling" would be in a far worse situation. Its a shame that more people seem to interested in which housemate from big brother will be evicted this week than the real "reality show" that is going on around us all the time.

A child dies of aids every minute and they are usually under 4 years old. Thousands die of starvation. Millions are crippled by disease and malnutrition.
Nannied, patronised certainly not. It is just that thinking people with common humanity do not like to see it happen and want to do something about it.
What is really worrying is the number of people on 'Answers' who seem to want to run Bono down all the time. Why?
There can be no peace in the world until poverty, disaese and malnutrition are made history. Why do so many illegal immigrants exist - simply because there is no viable future for them in their own country. Thousands of Africans have died this year alone trying to reach the Canary Islands. They know they have a one in four chance of dying when they set out but even that looks better than staying where they are.
