My favorite King book(s) is the Dark Tower Series. I know it isn't one book, but themes and characters and events in the series are found in about half of his other work, making it interesting to see connections between his stories. Also, the series shows his own changes in writing since the first book in the series is one of his earliest books and he finished the series because of his near fatal accident. Finally, the series shows just how many time periods he can write about and how many genres he can master.

Salem's Lot is my favourite Steven King book, it was the first of his books I ever read and I read in in one night and the sounds of the night actually became part of the book, made me more aware of my surroundings.
I have all of his books in hardcover andI enjoyed them all.
I like the fact that in all of his books he makes a reference to another of his books.

_Skeleton Crew_, primarily for the novella "The Mist," but there are some other winners in there as well.
My rule of thumb is that the fewer people he kills off, the more I like the book. Why do people think that _'Salem's Lot_ is so scary? -- it's obvious soon enough that they're all just going to die. Not much suspense in that.

I may be in the minority, but I really enjoy "Skeleton Crew," his early collection of short stories. The novels have much to recommend them, but I think King is actually better in brief. The story "Mrs. Todd's Shortcut" may be my favorite of all time.

i myself fairly loved "The Regulators." This became written in 1996 lower than King's pseudonym "Richard Bachman." This got here out on the same day as "Desperation" - which efficient factors many of the same characters and plot characteristics as TR. i have study both, regardless of the indisputable fact that, I loved "The Regulators" extra, broadly speaking becuase it scared the crap out of me and that i ought to by no potential experienced that once reading in the previous. Granted, this became about 10 years in the past which may have made me about 16 and far extra surely apprehensive than i must be now. Ha.

IT was my favourite. Can't really remember why as I have read hundreds of books since then but I do remember it being a hard to put down book.

Christine... because I had a Chrysler that was as big as a whale (to quote the love shack) and i wanted mine to Regenerate. IT was the creepiest horror story I loved, and Pet Semetary. I still hate clowns.
