They can be mixed but they can never react with each other because both are positive ions. they both even cant be a part of a complex compound because they are one of the least reactive elenments.

yes if you use oxidation as such sliver must polish with Mercury 2Th gold must boil in Mercury so gold turn white as Mercury apply to sliver part and heat it Mercury will evaporate in to gas and gold will remain with sliver
